Also, to add to the list I hardly drive!! I mean compared to some people I know. I drive mostly during the weekends for simple chores. We go for long drives occassionally but rare. So, why do I need a bigger car?
My car can seat 5 people comfortably with a huge boot space which I have never filled till now! Is there a need for a bigger car?
As I mentioned I don't drive a LOT but I love to drive. This may seem contradicting statements but let me explain.
I stay in a crowded metro and the traffic is terible. It's not driving but chugging along is more the word for it in this city at this moment. That, I don't enjoy at all. But, still there is an inner wish for a bigger car!
A bigger car obviously means more space but can still seat only 5 people right? Unless I go for an SUV or something like that. But, no I want a car a sedan mind you and nothing else. So, what I am essentially going to get is a bigger vehicle; bigger not in terms of seating capacity but bigger as in occupies more space on the road and less easy to drive in this traffic!
I may get more boot space but hey I have not yet filled my existing car's boot space yet! Come on..think..think why do I need a bigger car....!
Will I get more features? I already have power windows, power steering et al. But, yes I may get power seating, automatic climate control, adjustable steering wheel, ABS with EBD(!) etc., etc. You get the point. I can get a host of new features. So, is this the reason to go for that bigger car?
Did I mention that I don't prefer the AC that much. I usually switch on the blower or open my windows if the pollution seems less! So, the automatic climate control is off the window for me.
But, I may get one feature which is..can you guess? BRAND VALUE!! I may go for a three pointed star or the 4 intersecting rings which can increase my status on and off the road. Hmm..this is interesting. Had I thought about this? Sure, I have! But, do I need it? Let me think.
First of all, the three pointed star or the 4 rings cost atleast 10 times more money than my existing car. I won't spend SO much on a car! Can you imagine? Who would spend so much money on a car? Its just there to get from point A to point B right?
So, what am I blabbering about from a hundred lines here? Not sure..wait..
But, I still would LIKE to go for a bigger car. But why? Still haven't gotten the answer to that one still sorry.
On the other hand maybe I have. I do not need the car I just want it. Did you notice the difference there? Let me try again. I WANT IT BUT DO NOT NEED IT!!
Yes finally. That is the right answer.
We live in a highly consumeristic society where people measure other people by the things they have or the clothes they wear. That may have made many of us want some things which we do not actually need!
Come to think of it there is one more thing I always wanted (notice I straight away came to want than need!) which is a nice cell phone. Here again what does a nice cell phone mean you may ask. Well, it must have a big screen, downloadable apps, blah blah blah. But, once I have it I may not use it for more than calls and SMS!!
But, this consumerism is what drives our society. It helps sustain our economy. This is why we have credit cards, consumer loans, car loans..and what not! Spend and sustain the economy. Save money and save yourself!!
But, it would sure be cool to drive a cool 4 rings while
Wait..hold on..come to think of it, maybe I will go for that bigger car...and..and that new cellphone. You know just to sustain the economy and all!! What do you think? :)
